    Description

    This is a rhodonite cube necklace with a carved rhodonite rose. The necklace is about 17" long. The necklace has a lobster closure.
    Rhodonite is manganese silicate and is found mostly in metamorphic rocks. It named after a Greek word rhodos which means rosy and is red to pink in color and may have black inclusions and veins.
    It is found in many parts of the world mainly in Russia where it has been used in palaces of the czars. It is  mined in Massachusetts and is their state stone. It is also found in Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Australia South Africa, Canada and the UK.
    It has a hardness of 5.5 - 6.5.
